Can You Regain Loss of Smell and Taste After 3 Years?

Posted by Shelley (Sonoma County CA) on 08/18/2019 8 posts

I lost all sense of smell after suffering being hit by a car in a crosswalk at 45 mph. I can smell smoke cigarette or wood fire. I have also lost most normal sense of taste. I can taste extreme Sour, Sweet, Salty and Spicy. I had fractures on my left and right temples and the back center of my oppcipical bone. I was in a coma for 7 days. Was given a Cat Scan 2 mos after being injured.

The Neurologist didn't even ask or share treatment info or any info other then my brain is fine, and I will have a bruise on the top of my brain from then 2016 til I die. Whether I get a scan in 10 or 60 years it will always be there. He also told me that I had no brain inflammation. My bleeding by my brain after being injured was actually absorb directly back into my brain. I needed no further treatment. I have no clue how to return or repair obvious damage to my sensory area. I am heart broken since prior to my injury I had an amazing sensitive sense of smell and taste. I could smell things most people could not. I also could eat a dish for the first time and actually make it. I need ideas for seeing if anything can return even basic senses. It has been 3 years 4 months and 10 days.

Please advice me. Thank you Earth Clinic have been using you for years.

Hi Shelly!

Nutmeg. I have a diminished sense of smell for whatever reason. I did get a concussion when i was a child.

This helps my sense of taste and helps me understand music better (sometimes i cannot make out the words in songs on the radio, this makes even the music seem like an entirely different song). It is strong, though, so do it when you have a few days off work, preferably. 1. Eat a meal with a generous amount of crushed black pepper corns. Chili, pasta, potatoes, whatever. Use maybe a half teaspoon or more of pepper. 2. Next make a mug of hot water and add a teaspoon of freshly grated nutmeg powder and a teaspoon of good quality clove powder. (I found that the organic powders from the bulk spice jars at my local grocery are much more potent than the small jars of organic spices available for purchase.) Sip your tea till it's gone. It's fine if you drink the rest even the next day. It is strong. If you get overly thirsty drink fruit juice, though it seems to diminish the effect. You may have trouble sleeping. Grapefruit and strong mint flavors like Altoids or peppermint patties appear to be especially refreshing afterward.
