Hi Milly

Can you tell us what you have tried in the past for any treatment for your son, so we don't repeat something?

Thanks!

Katy

Milly, has he had allergy testing done? I know you are looking for natural remedies, but have they offered the steroids (a slurry to swallow or a spray to swallow) that will decrease inflammation?

I tested negative for EOE myself (as well as many other conditions), and I'm still struggling with inflammation of the esophagus. For me, having my esophagus stretched (a couple times now) was a life saver. So, I don't have any really practical solutions to offer, but I offer you my sympathy. I hate to think of such a young child dealing with this scary issue.

I have a 11yr old boy with EOE as well. He was 7 Yrs and 36lbs when we finally found out what was wrong. I had him tested for blood sensitivities to food(by functional med doctor) as well as regular prick tests from the allergist. The food sensitivities were the issue for him. He eats all organic grass finished meat, fruit, veggies and very limited alternative grains. He is doing much better. Pain is all gone! He did have severe back pain for 1 1/2 years in the middle of the night. We went to a top research hospital, where the told us that his core muscles were weak. I went to a applied kinesiologist out of desperation. I was a former drug rep and thought it was crazy but he diagnosed my son with low stomach acid and put him on Betadine Hydochloride acid or (Braggs vinegar to test) and all pain was gone in 2-3 days. Keep in mind, he had been on antacids for over 2 years, which was when he crashed.

To get him on the right track and stop the pain, start with a meat, a fruit and a veggie. Nothing else for 2-3 weeks NO grains and nothing that isn't organic. Just those 3 foods ( no spices ie salt and pepper till you blood tests come back-we found out that my son was super sensitive to black pepper) Once he starts to feel better you add in 1 new food per week or two.

Oh my goodness! I have been looking for an approach to diet planning for EOE, and I will definitely try the meat fruit and veggies, only. I think this is a sound recommendation I am very relieved to have it and this is exactly what we will do. We are currently waiting for the pathology report after a upper endoscopic as well as colonoscopy. White patches were found in the esophagus. Which the doctor stated could either be yeast or eosinophil esophagitis. I will keep you posted!
