Seeking Remedies and Treatment for Mast Cell Tumors in Dog

Posted by Shirley (Wollongong Nsw) on 06/14/2016

Hi I am hoping somebody could help my mum.

Her dog has mast cell tumours on her trunk and belly. At this present time they seemed to be on her skin. She is 9 years old and has had her leg removed due to cancer last year. Although I know mast cell tumours do not have a great prognosis does anybody know what could help. Id give anything a try.

She is a maltese cross and weighs 6.5kgs. Thank you in advance

Don't forget to add turmeric to main meal as it is a cancer fighter.

Hi Shirley, I read recently that some vets prescribe over the counter Tagamet, also known as Cimetidine which is an H-2 blocker for stomach acid. I don't know what the dose is, but you could search "Cimetidine dosage for dogs". They have found that not only does Cimetidine block excess stomach acid in dogs who have mast cell tumors, (apparently mast cell tumors produce a lot of histamine, which in turn causes the excess acid) but it was discovered that Cimetidine has anti cancer effects.
