Seeking Remedies for Numb Pinky Finger

Posted by Bruce31s (New Orleans, La) on 08/12/2020

What can be done for a numb pinky finger on my left hand?

I started having this numbness/tingling on my left pinky finger intermittently in November 2019. by janurary 2020, it went full time numb on my pinky.

I saw doctor recently, says its pinched nerve either from my elbow or neck.

I fractured my arm 3 years ago. also my rotator cuff on my right shoulder appears to be torn. This is not confirmed, am seeing a bone specialist to confirm.

I did have a similar tingling on my left arm a few years ago and that was traced to my right shoulder. I got a massage to take care of that.

Bruce31s,

You might be able to help locate the problem origination point by icing your elbow first to see if it makes any difference in the numbness in your pinky finger and if no difference try icing your lower neck to see if that makes any difference.

The icing is highly antiinflammatory and can help calm an inflamed nerve. Once you locate the problem origination point, then you can plan a treatment strategy or allow your doctor to treat it appropriately. Regular icing by itself may resolve the problem if it is not major.

B vitamins can affect nerves and cause trigger fingers, carpel tunnel and many other issues. Gut issues affect B vitamins in your body. Comfrey (nicknamed knit bone ) can fix a lot of messes in the body and works amazingly, grows like a week and no bitter tastes. I have this toe acting like it wants to go numb on one side and just read that Acetyl L carnitine can help with that . I finally did some comfrey foot soaks and all the callouses came off my feet from tons of yardwork. The other day I woke up my hand was completely numb. Next to tackle some joints, got stuck with some blackberry this spring and need to get around to reclaiming them. Castor oil is some really amazing stuff. Scar tissue gets eaten up by serrapeptase. I am using serrazimes right now and things are changing.

Hope you find the piece to your puzzle, we usually find the dog has chewed on it when it fell off the table. I knew it was here somewhere. Lots of pieces, some go to a different puzzle and will never fit in.

Blessings, Charity

P.S. Hyaluronic acid heals a lot of stuff in joints skin tendons ligaments disc lubrication of moving parts.

I used the same thing I used for carpal tunnel, which was an inversion table. The out-of-place vertebrae was right around the lower neck, in line with the top of the shoulder. I forget which vertebrae it was, exactly. If you press right along the side of your spine - opposite from your tingly finger - you'll find a sore spot next to the errant vertebrae. Or, at least, that's what I was told and found it to be true in my case.

You could also try "spontaneous muscle release". You'll find instructions on the web. Usually, someone else has to do it but the sore spot for this is easily reached so you could do it yourself. Theoretically. It's basically just finding that sore spot then finding a position in which the sore spot isn't sore (which is often a strange position) and then maintaining the position, supported, while relaxing the muscles so they will let go of the vertebrae and let it stay where it belongs.

Interestingly, the SKIN over the sore spot was actually numb for some reason. Don't know why. Same with the carpal tunnel, a couple of years earlier. Weird.

Follow up on my post. I still have the pinky finger numbness that resembles limbs falling asleep. (ulnar nerve) 3 years. I can't believe still I'm fooling with this thing. wasn't able to address this due to the covid bs. Anyway, I finally went to the nerve clinic this year in an effort to get a trace on the pinched nerve issue. the specialist there, using specialized nerve detection equipment, traced my problem to the a spot near my elbow on my arm where I fractured my arm 3 years ago. So, the injury from the fractured arm was the culprit. apparently it didn't heal correctly. so now I have an inflammation in the area where the fractured arm is located. Last year in 2021, I did have an abscess on my left elbow. it took two trips to completely drain the abscess from my elbow. Suggestions: Icing my arm is a possibility. I will check on that to see if it works. Hyaluronic acid? not sure about this as this has more to do with joint issues. will look into it.

Hi Bruce, sorry to hear about your ongoing issues. Consider seeing a sports chiropractor for old nerve and joint injuries followed by a myofascial therapist. I had no improvement in the numbness and loss of strength in one hand for many months after a brachial plexus injury in the armpit area after being injured by a hyperextension technique during karate training until I got my ribs and shoulder adjusted by an osteopath and then had myofascial work done by a myofascial therapist. I've written extensively about it on EC. Improvement happened in 1 session. No remedies helped at that point, and I tried many. I did not try Art's icing technique mentioned above, however. That may have helped. But if you are out of alignment in your shoulder and ribs, you may have issues healing the area until that is sorted out first. Just my two cents.
