Seeking Remedies for Toddler With 2nd Lymph Gland Infection

Posted by Shelley (Birmingham) on 07/26/2015

6 months ago my son, who is now 2, was treated in hospital for a lymph gland infection on the left side of his neck. The infection was treated with intravenous antibiotics + minor surgery. Today I have noticed the same swelling on the opposite side ( although not as swollen as last time). Could anyone recommend any natural treatments for this kind of infection as I would rather not go down the antibiotic route unless I have no other option. Many thanks x

Dear Shelley,

We have found castor oil to work well for swollen lymph nodes. We massage a little bit in a few times a day. If you can get it at a health food store, you can probably find a higher quality, but you should be able to find it at most pharmacies.

If you can get some raw garlic into your child 4x a day, that would be great. One half a medium clove 4 times a day. You can mince it and put it on toast with some honey. Honey has anti-bacterial properties as well.

A Vitamin C supplement would be great.

A cup of baking soda or epsom salt in a warm bath for 20 minutes each night may be helpful.

I hope he is able to avoid antibiotics and surgery this time around.
