Vaginal Itching in 8 Year Old

Posted by Stacy (Baton Rouge, La.) on 07/20/2016

Hello I have a 8 year old daughter that is constantly having vaginal problems. I have brought my daughter to the doctor many times. First I was told she had a yeast infection this was 3 times in one year. Then I was told she had bacterial vaginosis. Wait....I thought that was only in adults. Finally after blood work and cultural (horrifying) they could not give me an answer what is going on. Doctor said she is super hypoallergenic. To make a long story short I have my daughter only takes showers with dove sensitive skin soap except on her personals, only uses All free and clear detergent, 100% cotton underwear. I have came across this site a couple of days ago and I started her on Apple Cider Vinegar and cranberry juice. There no pain so far just itching. I just wanted to get some advise if possible

Stacy, read up on coconut oil. I'm in mosquito-land now and coconut oil is so far the only thing that soothes the itch.

I am a sure enough praying woman, but had a lot to learn in this motherhood thing. My daughter was about the same age as yours when she had a minor surgery.

She was given antibiotics and I was told to give it to her until all the medicine was finished. However, before the week was up she came home from school complaining of itching.

And Something said, "It's the medicine". So I flat stopped giving it to her and she had no more itching.

Now, if the problem was not antibiotics, I would simply put a pinch of Baking Soda in that Apple Cider Vinegar in a half cup of water.

I would not give the cranberry juice because sugar may be the cause of her situation. in which cause she needs plenty of water and a few weeks without sugars and starches.

As I said, once I stopped giving my daughter the antibiotics she had no more problems. I did not have to change her diet, nor did she have to have the alkalizing drink.

Stacy, has she ever had trouble with pinworms? I know this sounds horrible, but when I was a child, I had recurring problems with pinworms in the vagina. That caused insane itching and sadly, it wasn't until I was an adult that I figured out what was going on.

I also suffered from vaginal itch as a child.

And I just suffered as no female in my family knew what to do about it. I would cry myself to sleep!

I believe I had a yeast infection as I got them in my 20's. What worked best for me was Vagisil.

Also as an adult female I douched with white vinegar and water. Later I found peroxide and water was effective for vaginal itching.

Stacy, I have to agree with Anon for Now. This could be a case of pin worms.

Pinworms can be around the anus, which causes intense itching. You can try rubbing mustard oil around that area, esp the anus, twice a day, for a week. Mustard oil is available at any Indian grocery store.

Hi Stacy,

The doctor didn't check for pinworms already?

I don't know if my recommendation will help, but several years ago, I had this issue and I was told I didn't have a yeast infection. But the symptoms sure seemed like it, along with other yeast issues. After many months of trying different things, I bought a supplement from the health food store, I don't know if it will be printed here because it is a name brand, but I have no affiliation with this company, and found the product after locating a website on line where a doctor recommended his formula for yeast/fungal infections, but it was too expensive. He listed the ingredients, and I only found one product in the store that had nearly all of his ingredients called Candida Cleanse (by Rainbow Light).

All I know is after the first dosage, within about half an hour (if I remember correctly) the itching stopped. It was the first time I had real success. It returned later that same day, but after taking the recommended dosage that evening, again it stopped.

If EC can't print the brand name, I will come back and list the ingredients. The reason I didn't want to do that, is when I found the product, it didn't list 2 of the doctor's recommended ingredients, and I don't remember what both of them were (one was burdock root). All I know is the product worked for me. Every day it got better, and eventually it cleared up all of my issues. If I remember correctly, the itching was mostly gone within a week, but as soon as it started to faintly come back, I would return to the product.

Since she is so young, taking a single supplement before meals might be easier than some other methods. But, you would need to verify that it is okay to give a half tablet since an adult dosage is one tablet. Since it is herbs, etc, and she is over 6, I wouldn't think it would be a problem. Emailing the company they could tell you I think.

I will add, that I also took molybdenum as recommended by Ted, to bind up any killed off fungus so it doesn't cause other problems.

Mine was a yeast problem for sure, I could tell by what was removed from the body.

Also, I since learned that many of the newer washing machines without agitators don't do a good job of cleaning our clothes...

Please let us know how she is doing. :-)
