Hello Rahul from India;

Re the bone stuck in tongue problem.

If you go to Earth Clinic's "Ailments" section you will scroll to "Splinters" and find lots of ideas on removing splinters. That is basically what this problem amounts to...the bone in tongue is a splinter.

My own suggestion is to hold a good oil that might be used for "oil pulling" in mouth for 20 minutes. This might take many applications but the pathway that the bone entered needs to be loosened and lubricated to allow the bone to come out...or be pulled out.

I've also used "ice" for removing splinters. Ice the area closest to the fragment and the contraction of the skin can sometimes force the bone out. Actually, such a soaking technique let me use a needle to get to the top of the piece of wood (splinter) which had become exposed from the action of the ice.

I wonder if a good Doctor could not get the bone out? There must be some reason why you don't want to let an MD deal with this but I might consider this one of those occasions when a good "general surgeon" would be perfect.

This happened to me just this morning, the doctor cannot see it, he just give me antibiotics and paracetamol prescription and advised me to comeback if pain persist. Will the fishbone eventually come out or dissolve? It was a very fine long fishbone stuck from a MILK FISH it is stuck inside my tongue located at the back part, first I was able to feel it with my finger now it is inside my tongue.

Baking soda is a draw salve and would be safe to use in your mouth. I use it 50/50 with coconut oil for my gums and teeth at night and you could use it to encourage that bone to the surface - 1 /4 tsp in mouth at bedtime, won't hurt if it gets swallowed.

How often do I apply it? I am really suffering from pain everytime I eat, drink or even talk, the pain radiates to my head and it also results to headache after I tried to bear the pain when I am eating. The pain starts to go away when I don't move my tongue. How can this be removed in other means, how can it be seen by Doctors? it was a fine fishbone not sure how long but it is already inside my tongue, located at the back of it, almost at my throat.
