Searching for Relief From Eczema
Hi
My daughter in law is a very hypoallergenic and struggles with autoimmune diseases(asthma, eczema, itchy & mucus in the eyes) looking for some detox protocol or supplements that can really helps solve this long term. It has flared up at the moment with eczema on her elbow, wrist, back of neck and mucus in the eyes.
Thank you so much

Hi Mix,
Did you try the melatonin lotion your dad is using? I have had a report that it helps and studies suggest the same.

Hi Art
She is very careful what creams she applies, as commercial stuff really aggravate it, am worried about the Cetaphil cream, is that a concern. Have you ever worked with Aloe Vera for Eczema?
Also the borax protocol for my dad seems to be far less effective, do you have any advice? It was very effective in the beginning.
Thank you

Mix, I would start with eliminating commercial detergents, and also if she uses those fabric softening sheets or liquids, they are just terrible in provoking a reaction. Stop those, or just add a bit of vinegar to rinses.
Switching to "free and clear" natural detergent made from plants will go a long way toward desensitization.
Also, commercial "soap bars" are not soap, they are detergents. Switching to real old fashioned soap will help too. Detergents damage the skin barrier.

Topical issues usually have a intestinal ediology. Many times you're dealing with Candida.

I might recommend trying topical ivermectin (horse paste). It is great for skin conditions! I use it as a preventative every day on my face! Here in the US you can get it at your local farm store but I'm not sure about where you are. Totally worth a try! Search up “Ivermectin for eczema” on Instagram and you'll find people talking about it.
Another thing I suggest looking into is Nicotine Patch Therapy. That is supposed to get to and heal the root cause of things in your body. Search up Dr. Brian Ardis and “pretty sick heather” and you'll find info on that! I've also been using this every day for the last 6 months and it eliminated my joint pain, stiffness, and menopausal symptoms! I'll never stop using it!

Hi Eoost, interesting that the nicotine relieved your menopausal symptoms. Another woman I met said nicotine caused her body to go into menopause, so she stopped wearing them and her cycles became pre-menopausal again.
can you share more about which menopausal symptoms were relieved from using nicotine?

Hi! I use the Rugby brand but I've heard some can be fake on Amazon-I do buy from the Rugby Store through Amazon. I buy the 21mg and cut in thirds (7mg) and wear one 24 hours-I change every night after I shower. I'm currently on a break for a week just to see what happens-no addiction feeling so that's good! I'll go back on soon. I've never had dizziness but I started by cutting into like 2mg strips for 3 days then 4mg for 3 days and so on..and keeping on with a bandaid

That's wonderful Eoost!
thank you for sharing. I've got a 3.5mg nicotine patch on right now. I'll probably increase to 7mg next week. I could definitely afford to lose some weight as I'm about 10 pounds over my healthy weight. I've only worn the patch for a few days now, and haven't noticed much. I'll give it much longer to see any benefit. I do know Dr Bryan Ardis wears a patch daily for continuous detox and virus prevention.

Sorry Madelyn, I missed your post. The menopausal symptoms it helped me with were hot flashes, intense night sweats, brain fog and memory (although that seems still be a thing and tends to be a part of growing up :), moodiness and the awkward weight in weird places. I started it for joint pain and after time realized it helped with these things.
A major menopausal symptom I had was vaginal dryness. The patch didn't help with that but Sea Buckthorn was a God send for this issue. Just thought I'd share that! I got mine off Amazon: NusaPure Sea Buckthorn Omega.

Mix, I was wondering if she knows how to get rid of the itch. Most eczemas itch something awful...

Mix, yes, I do. It's surprisingly easy to get rid of the itch for several hours. And the treatment can be repeated at will.
Put the itchy wrist under the faucet, and turn on the hot water. As it gets warmer and wamer, wait until it get as hot as you can stand, then yank your hand away. The itch is usually gone. If not, the second application will do the trick.
For the neck, a wet hot rag might do it, or just take a shower as hot as you can stand it.
Heat induces the cells to release histamine. The relief is immediate. Try it, you'll love it! :-)

Thankyou for the information Eoost! But one more question,,,, are you able to sleep? I've read that the nicotine can cause insomnia. Thanks again!

I have never had issues sleeping. I also take Magnesium Glycinate, 5-HTP, and L-tryptophan 20-30 min before I go to bed. Usually I can't stay awake after 20 minutes.
I should elaborate on the joint pain, which is what I started on the patch for. It was so bad I couldn't open my water bottle and getting out of bed every morning was painful! After about a month on the patch I don't even remember the pain! Sometimes it comes back in my hands if I'm over using them but really the pain is non existent.
I also give it to my 13 yo (lower dose) for his ADHD. He can finally focus and complete his homework with almost no help! I used to have to sit next to him and keep him on task but now I can do whatever else needs to be done around the house! I LOOOOVE THIS STUFF!

Hi Eoost,
So glad to see your reply. Thanks for sharing such helpful info!
I've only worn a nicotine patch for 5 days and the pain in my left hip that's bothered me for well over a year is gone. It sounds like nicotine had a very positive impact on hormone balance for you. That's quite encouraging, since I wanted to use nicotine for the other health benefits but was somewhat dissuaded due to its potential to disrupt hormones. I think it's quite safe either way since any hormonal impact is temporary. So far I feel great.
I love sea buckthorn. I haven't taken recently so I appreciate the recommendation. I need to get some!

Hi Mix,
Yes, I have some experience with aloe vera gel for this purpose. I make the melatonin lotion and I also make "melatonin gel" which I call "melgel" for application to more sensitive areas or sensitive skin. It is made the same as melatonin lotion, but with aloe vera gel in the same amount as the lotion, but in place of the lotion.
I use the melgel in sensitive areas such as the face, anal area for hemorrhoids or the perineum for an enlarged prostate or benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and for the bladder area for overactive bladder (OAB). I describe how to make it here :
https://www.earthclinic.com/supplements/melatonin-gel.html
You can make her a very small amount of the melgel for her to test on a very small area of eczema, to make sure that she tolerates it well before applying to larger areas.
Here is an animal study illustrating how topical melatonin can help with atopic dermatitis, which is the most common chronic form of eczema :
Here is a relevant quote from the study :
' We found that in DNCB-stimulated Balb/c mice, topical melatonin treatment improved gross dermatitis severity, reduced epidermal hyperplasia and lymphocyte infiltration in the skin, and decreased IP-10, CCL27, IL-4, and IL-17 levels in superficial skin-draining lymph nodes. Melatonin also reduced cytokine-induced secretion of AD-related chemokines IP-10 and MCP-1 and decreased IL-4-induced cell proliferation in HaCaT cells. Melatonin seems to have an immunomodulatory effect on AD, with IP-10 as a possible target, and topical melatonin treatment is a potentially useful treatment for patients with AD. '
Regarding your dad, South Africa (SA) is noted for low boron content in the soil. suggesting that his arthritis is likely long standing and SA is noted for a very high rate of osteoarthritis at greater than 50%. The founder of the the borax/boron remedy, Dr. Rex Newnham, said that long standing arthritis and arthritis in the elderly can take 3 to 4 months to reach maximum benefit. You also have to remember that in these two groups that there can be significant damage to the joints some of which can take time to heal and some of which may not be able to heal if the damage is too severe.
In any case, your dad may want to stick with it for at least 4 months if he is in either of those two groups to allow borax to do all that it can do for him. On a related note, melatonin has shown the ability to offer some reparative effects to damaged joints from arthritis and other injuries while having antiarthritic effects as discussed here :
https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S1568163722000770
Here is a relevant quote from the research paper :
' With regards to OA, melatonin reportedly promotes synthesis of cartilage matrix, inhibition of chondrocyte apoptosis, attenuation of inflammatory response, and suppression of matrix degradation by regulating the TGF-β, MAPK, or NF-κB signaling pathways. Notably, melatonin has been associated with amelioration of oxidative damage by restoring the OA-impaired intracellular antioxidant defense system in articular cartilage. Findings from preliminary application of melatonin or melatonin-loaded biomaterials in animal models have affirmed its potential anti-arthritic effects. Herein, we summarize the anti-arthritic effects of melatonin on OA cartilage and demonstrate that melatonin has potential therapeutic efficacy in treating OA. '
