Seeking Help for Akita With Sebaceous Adenitis

Posted by Missfdb (New York, New York) on 06/09/2015

Please help. My 3 YO Akita has Sebaceous Adenitis. I'm devastated. She has some sores and looks a lot smaller than she was. But that's all due to loss of fur. Please advise what I can do for her. I have very little funds now. I have already put her on atopica, which is very expensive for the long term. She also uses Temeril-P; Plus she gets rid/pink pimples on her under carriage for which Genone has helped periodically. She's on Blue Buffalo Healthy Weight, Bison Meat added and she loves her doggies biscuits.

Hey Missfdb!

SA is an autoimmune disease that is hereditary and Akitas are a known affected breed :-(

You might consider adding colostrum to boost your dog's immune system, or vitamin C, and echinacea. Quercetin may also help with the inflamation as may yucca.

Please read up on this disease:

It would appear that oil baths really help in healing this condition.

Please also check out this person's journey in healing their dog with this disease:

Also consider alkalizing your dogs drinking water with baking soda.

I am not sure there is an inexpensive way to treat this condition; health supplements can be expensive, but the oil treatments have inexpensive options. The main thing is to commit to the regime of frequent bathing and oil treatments - several times a week for 6 months or more.

Good luck!

Aloe vera gel topically; George's aloe vera juice internally and stop the carbs. Better protein diets exist, just look for a pet store with a freezer and open it - someone can help you from there.
