Very Sick From ITP and Mixed Connective Tissue Disease

Posted by Angela (San Antonio, Texas) on 10/07/2015

I've had ITP since 2004, and mixed connective tissue disease. Recently my itp has flared up. I've tried everything and nothing seems to be working so they want to remove my spleen. So they're trying to bring up my platelets with NPlate. I've been on the Nplate for almost 2 months but recently I have been feeling very sick, I'm so tired and feel dizzy all the time, can't function anymore. I just don't know what to do. Please help me.

Hi Angela. Have you been checked for H-pylori? Recent studies have shown H-pylori to be the causitive factor for itp. If you haven't been tested for it please do so. This may be the reason why you're not responding to treatment.. If you haven't had this test, you need to insist that this test be done.. My husband was hospitalized with itp 2 years ago when his platelet levels fell to 20000. It was his first encounter with itp.. He was given platelets via IV but they made no difference and his platelet levels had dropped to 2000. Doctors then suggested a bone marrow test and hinted a spleenectomy may be required which we were both totally opposed to.

After consulting with a couple of doctor friends, we were advised to get a H-pylori test.. Our request was met with scepticism and were told that its impossible for him to have h-pylori. The test was done on our insistence and it turned out to be positive!!! We transferred my husband to a different hospital where he was given triple therapy for 7 days followed by 10 packs of IVIG. His platelets went to 180000 within 48 hours of ivig treatment with no recurrence since then. Whilst in hospital I also gave him a super green drink and moringa leaves daily. Just as an aside, there are people leading perfectly normal lives with platelet levels as low as 3000. Just Google itp treatment and see for yourself.

I wish you a speedy recovery. All the best.
