Seizures in Hyperthyroid Cat

Hi,

I have an 18 year old cat called Crystal who suffers from Hyperthyroidism. Recently her medication I used to swipe in her ear (Methimazole) stopped working and her levels went through the roof. She was put back on tablets (Neomercazole) which she takes quite ok. Unfortunately this time round she's been getting seizures quite frequently and the vet seems to think it may or may not be from the high levels of Hyperthyroidism or if the tablets don't work in a few weeks, ( I'm not really sure how long they take to work), it may be another neurological problem.

I cannot bear to watch these seizures any longer been doing it for two weeks now. They last for about 5 seconds and when she gets up its the same little face back to normal and of to eat another round of food or whatever she wants to do. The vet is not keen to medicate her on anything else right at this moment for see if the neomercazole changes anything but I cant see it. I'm trying to see if there are any suggestions of coconut oil or natural therapies anyone might suggest that won't harm her and can only benefit her. She's the most loved family pet we have ever had and so well looked after. Not even my vet can bring herself to suggest to put her down at the moment, she's far too alert, but she can't go on like this forever.

I have read a lot about coconut oil but have no idea where to start and how much to give her. I've also changed her diet to no grains, all quality food form the vet. Hoping someone can help!!

For a cat I would try 1/4 teaspoon of extra virgin coconut oil mixed in food. Ideally 3 times a day, but I would start with once a day and increase the amount every few days if it suits. Too much coconut oil can cause loose stools.
