Sjogrens Syndrome Causing Severe Intestinal Problem

Posted by Diane (California, US) on 01/24/2015

Is anyone else suffering from the protective intestinal layer being dried up by Sjogren's? And also exocrine pancreatic insufficiency? I take vegan replacement enzymes which really help but the depleted dried out intestinal layer is what protects it from tomatoes, spices, garlic, etc. and also is responsible for absorbing the nutrients. So I weigh only 89 pounds (5'4.5") because of that and cannot eat any food that injures the lining. Does anyone have any natural remedies to help heal or coat that protective layer that Sjogren's 'likes' to dry up?

D: Slippery Elm & Marshmallow Root are excellent for "lubricating" epithelial tissues such as intestines and lungs. DGL & Allantoin are excellent for "healing" same tissues.

Thank you, Tim H. The DGL and Allantoin are new to me. I will look them up. Thank you for telling me about them.

D: You are welcome. There has been a few post here on E.C. about this combo; searching here will be a good start as this is not a common remedy, but effective none-the-less. DGL/Allantoin is essentially a non-toxic Comfrey replacement remedy, and has proved effective for me w/ every application over-the-yrs.

Let us know if this works for you.

I just recently diagnosed with Sjogrens Syndrome, however previously, I began using magnesium for chronic idiopathic constipation. It has been extremely helpful. So funny I never complained to the doctor about constipation, or dry eyes. So now it all make sense. I take 1 magnesium in the morning, with other vitamins, and 1 at night. Usually works like a charm. I will watch this forum. For everyone's alternative ideas. Thanks, EC
