Sleep is Difficult for Son With Autism, Any Remedies?

Posted by Charlie (Sydney ) on 06/13/2018

Hi, my son is extremely autistic. He is hyperactive and rarely sleeps at night. Are there any remedies or supplements that can help him?

If you have not tried melatonin, that would be the first thing. 1 mg for a small child - that really helps my mildly autistic grandson calm down. Depending on the age and weight - start low and increase slowly - probably not more than 3 mg.

Hi Charlie - Have you looked into low-dose naltrexone (LDN)? Google LDN autism and you should find some really interesting information as well as forums. Best of luck to you and your son.

LDN will help relieve symptoms, Melatonin will improve the condition generally, but in a case of "extreme autism", continue here seeking lasting cures which will involve cleansing & detoxing.

For starters: give Black Cumin Seed Oil caps as recommended on labels to kill infections. Milled Flax Seed sprinkled on breakfast cereals or any foods helps clean the colon and works with the B.C.S.O. caps.

In combination with Melatonin, give Selenium + broad or full spectrum Vit-E + CoQ10 with breakfast in the morning, then give Melatonin before retiring. This antioxidant combination will rid his body of toxins and greatly improve the overall condition.

Two herbs that can be given before retiring is Chinese Skullcap and Hemp/CBD Oil. These two herbs will greatly improve his brain/mental function.

In the long term, it might be informative to check out Dr Marco Ruggiero and the AutismOne videos. A challenge with his accent however his work with his team involves deep cervical modes drainage improving the flow of lymph which might accumulate in the brain. There was also an interview with Dr Ruggiero in the Townsend Letter (the examiner of alternative medicine) in Oct. 2016.

Have you tried a weighted blanket? They are pricey, but if you read-up, you'll find that they have proven very helpful for children with ADHD, Autism, Asperger, and even adults with anxiety disorders. Another plus: no side-effects! :)

Holy basil tea, nutmeg in warm milk before bed, kefir. Green tea, raw cacao, raw eggs (give colloidal silver if you are afraid of bacteria), increase exposure to sunlight, more exercise. Massage. Look into GABA. Binaural beats. Blue light. Nootropics. No junk food/caffien/sugar/salt, artificial anything. No ice cream. No nightshades. Watch out for waxes on produce, "natural flavor" in ingredient list, fluoride in meds, water, toothpaste. Good luck!
