Sores Inside Nose That Wont Heal

Posted by Eileen (Houston, Texas) on 03/03/2015

This has been going on for years. I have a sore scabby place deep inside my right nostril that absolutely refuses to heal. I have used Neosporin, cold sore medicine, honey. The Neosporin soothes it temporarily. I don't want to see a doctor because I never have good luck with them, they scare me to death. Is there anything I could be trying that would be more effective? Thank you for taking the time to read this and for any information you can offer. Much appreciated!

Olive oil. Just dip a cotton bud in a little olive oil and put on the sore spot inside your nostril. Worked for me. Olive oil also worked on my chapped lips.

Castor oil will help a lot, just keep re-applying with a q-tip often.

Eileen...The probable reason that you cannot get rid of the sore area in your nostril is because it is always slightly infected. So an easy way to safely disinfect your nostrils and the sore region would be to first buy some 3% hydrogen peroxide from the pharmacy and dilute it down to 1% (1 part hydrogen peroxide to 3 parts water) and use a nasal sprayer or a dropper to carefully bath the sore area in your nose with this mix. Do this 3 or 4 times a day and the sore should eventually heal properly and disappear.

Using a dropper and 4 drops of iodine mixed with a capful of water should also work in the same way -- but this method might sting somewhat because of the iodine.

I have something in both of my nostrils. A little bump in each one and they've been there for a very long time. I have allergies and blow my nose a lot so I never thought much about them until I realized that they were actual growths. I put 90% tea tree oil and 10% DMSO in a little bottle with a dropper and saturated a q-tip with this solution. I rubbed the solution inside my nostrils, only over the lumps, and continued doing this for about one hour, or until there was no more solution on the q-tip. Have a lot of tissue on hand because you will probably sneeze a lot. I noticed that the bumps stopped going down in size after about 2 weeks. I reduced my procedure to about 1-2 times a week and the bumps started reducing again and they are almost all gone.

hi Eileen, I have the same thing and wondered if you've tried any of these treatments and did they work? Also, do you have hay fever or an allergy that causes you to blow your nose and use tissues a lot?
