Seeking Supplement Advice for Neck Issues

Posted by Leenie (Keego Harbor, Michigan) on 09/17/2016

I was in a car accident a long time ago.Apparently my neck had been degenerating since then.even the doctor is surprised at how awful my discs are and the "non-curve" of the vertebrae in my neck. if it weren't for my car accident I would have never found out about this. So I need to be clear please help.... I should start taking collagen and vitamin d along with k12? The only thing I have in my arsenal Is zyflamend for inflammation and krill oil with coq10. I'm too young to be like this (44) I saw the xrays and I'm scared now.

My father died at 70 with dementia because there was not enough blood getting to his brain because of the thinning of his arteries. I feel I'm on that path and I WANT off! I know yoga and exercise and eat right but I well take any advice on supplements. Thank you for reading this....

Hi Leenie, You might want to check out Ted's Remedies, as he is one of this Site's well known Gurus and has an encyclopedic knowledge of health issues generally and your particular problem. I am not out to dare to compete with him! However, you will need to be in for the long haul with spine issues! You are probably reconciled to that one already. One recommendation is to regularly consume gelatin---organic chicken if you can get it (or boil it up) or grass-fed beef is O.K. if you can't get the organic chicken. You want the UN de-natured variety of gelatin (important /crucial). Use hot but not boiling water. Also Hyurolonic(sp?) acid has been around for a while for disc problems. Because the blood stream cannot penetrate the discs, it is necessary to stimulate them by some form of pumping action to get them to re-hydrate if they have lost their elasticity. A good quality physiotherapist should be able to gently steer you on to the right road. There are three neck exercises that are very simple to do four times per day for just a few minutes. Lastly, you want to make sure you drink more water from now on-more than you may be comfortable drinking! Your discs will need that! Be good to cut down on colas, coffee and brown/black teas too. Switch to the approproiate herbal ones.

Wishing you well with all that but hey, DO check out Ted for his wisdom and the disc section on this site (under "Ailments").

Oh yes Leenie, and take a good quality (not rancid), fish oil supplement OR a good flax seed oil if you prefer (for the Omegas etc! ). There are also tablets that have just come on the market that have boron, collagen and vitamin D in them that could be just the thing for you. Keep you posted. Still being trialed by some!

Cheers,

Michael

Hi Frances from Aussie! I was referring to a product by "Good Health" (N.Z.) called "Joint Active with UC-11". It claims to give "significant support for joint comfort & cartilage regeneration - clinicaly Researched (! ) including Harvard Medical School". You will be advised to take one tablet on a two-hour empty stomach with water just before bedtime.

Many have been on the quest for the Holy Grail of joint cartilage regeneration for years, while the medical fraternity said all along that it couldn't be done. Has anyone cracked this hard nut yet I wonder? I know two deserving people who are trialing this one and they hold out some hope for benefit and a lessening of their nasty symptoms at least. Will keep you posted.

Hi Frances again.

That product I mentioned claims to contain (& I broadly quote here)"A type of un-denatured Type 11 Collagen to work on the immune system, to help preserve joints and support the regeneration and maintenance of healthy cartilage, Boron to help healthy bones and Vitamin D to support optimal cartilage production". If that bold claim proves to be true we have a winner on our hands! I know there are similar products "out there" and it can be confusing to sort through and expensive to "trial and error" many of them. We move from a situation where we basically had no help to one where there is too much (apparent) choice! Ha! Even so, I am pretty excited about this one at the moment. Keep in touch/watch this space! I reckon improvement could be noticed as early as three weeks if the stuff suits your particular condition and body type! Wouldn't that be pleasant! Then, you could commence those gentle, neck exercises. Good luck.

Sounds like you're describing bone degeneration. Search the web/amazon for a 'good' bone supplement. Taking vitamin-D3 alone w/o cal-mag, etc. will cause more problems. Jarrow 'Bone Up' is a good start. Perque Bone Forte is the best & most expensive. Drink lots of nettle tea for the minerals. Too much dairy calcium will cause bone spurs, etc. Keep the diet alkaline, avoid acid drinks, sugar, low-no caffeine which is acid.
