Tendonitis and High Enzyme Levels

Posted by Larry K. (Fairfax, Va) on 08/24/2016

I have had painful, tendonitis/tennis elbow of both arms for the last 4 months or so. My blood test results continue to show high levels of the enzyme, creatine kinase, which indicates muscle/tendon breakdown. Is anybody familiar with this health condition and may be able to offer a means of improvement, etc.

Hi Larry,

These symptoms can result from statin induced damage to your muscles. If you happen to be taking a statin, please stop it immediately to avoid long term damage. Statins only help, to a very small extent, middle aged men who have had a previous heart incident. They have no benefit to women, or anyone else beyond an anti-inflammatory effect that helps about 1% of people who take it, with about a 25% chance of adverse effects, many of them serious and possibly permanent. Best wishes!

Hi Carol, Thanks for your comments re: tendonitis. I will try some of your recommendations as per the Adele Davis book. Larry

Hi RSW (OH), Thanks for your response. But, in my case, I have never taken statins. So, I'm still searching for the answer to my muscle deterioration problem. - Larry

Hi Larry,

I happened to be reading an old Adele Davis book, "Let's Get Well" and remembered reading your post. According to Davis Vit. E(d alpha, not dl alpha) Choline, B1, pantothenic acid, potassium are all necessary for the production and utilization of acetylcholine. Acetylcholine is necessary for healthy muscles. She suggests Lecithin, yeast, liver, wheat germ and eggs be added to your diet along with the supplements. Hope this helps.

Hi Larry,

I forgot to mention a few things. The creatine levels decreased with just the addition of lecithin and Vit. E in most cases. If you can't afford everything I would start there. Also, the lecithin should be the granular not the oil caps. I use Non GMO soy lecithin. Please start slowly with the Brewers yeast. I made the mistake many years ago of starting with a few tablespoons and I paid for it with horrible gas pains. So start with just a teaspoon or less. I'm not sure if wheat germ has gluten or not so I would not do that if you are sensitive to it. Carol

Hi Carol, Thanks for your additional suggestions regarding tendonitis and lowering my creatine kinase levels. I will now be focusing on using vitamin E & lecithin. - Larry

Hi Carol,

Have you had direct experience with the use of lecithin granules and Vitamin E to treat tendonitis (& lower creatine kinase levels) or were your recommendations mainly based on Adele Davis' book? The reason that I ask is that when I just googled "lecithin & tendonitis, " some information came up attributing tendonitis to lecithin; one never knows the credibility of google derived information. Thanks, Larry

Hi Larry,

I don't have any experience with tendinitis and lecithin. However, I have been taking lecithin for years and have never had tendinitis while taking it. I did want to add that along with anything you try, please eat as healthy as possible and always alkalize with the baking soda and Apple cider vinegar. Carol

Hi Carol, Thanks for the clarification on the lecithin. But, am I correct, you found Vit. E to help you with your tendonitis, including lowering your creatine kinase levels? If so, how much vit. E did you use daily?

Hi Larry,

I haven't checked back here for a few days. I'm sorry that my last post wasn't too clear on the tendinitis issue. I have been taking lecithin and vit. E for years for other issues not for tendinitis. Anyway, just trying to say that it didn't give me tendinitis as per your google search. I have used several of Adelle Davis's remedies for different things over the years and they always helped. The info may be old but some folk remedies and just plain good nutrition help most ailments. She was my first place to go for help until I found earth clinic. I just love this site and the wonderful people who post here. I will be praying that these suggestions help you. I would be surprised if they didn't, but I would try detoxing if they don't. And don't give up just try other things that are found on this site.

Good luck and God Bless, Carol
