Need Help for Toe Pain
I woke this am.early with pain in my left toe, the one next to my little toe. Pain is in lower part of toe next to my toe away from.my little toe.
Lately noticing numbness in that toe and other small toe. I can't remember causing any injury to my toe. I have fungal toe nails and have had neuropathy in my feet and legs for about 15 to 20.yrsrs. No diabetes but do have A1C of 5.9 which had stayed the same for a year.
Lately have been peeing a ton, I strain to pee and I wake up 4 or 5 times a night to.pee.
I do have Lyme and confections.
The toe pain is bad. Going to see Dr. This AM. Hard to walk. Appreciate any suggestions. Pain seemed to come out of nowhere.
Please respond. And thank you
Hi Serach,
You've got quite a bit going on in terms of health issues!
Since you titled your post, "Need Help For Toe Pain", I will mainly focus on that issue and make a suggestion or two for the other issues you mentioned. Since you have multiple health issues which can complicate things significantly, anything I mention in this reply will require your doctor's approval and supervision before you use any of it.
Arthritis is a common occurrence in people with Lyme disease and should be a consideration. Using Borax in a daily foot soak using as hot water as is comfortable, a 15 minute foot soak per day may be helpful over a 3 week period. I don't know what size your foot soaker is so the amount of borax used can vary, but three tablespoons should be plenty for most foot soakers. Mix the Borax powder into the warm water until it is dissolved and then soak for 15 minutes. You mentioned fungal involvement and the Borax soak may help with that issue also.
To manage the toe pain my first choice would be Melatonin Gel as discussed here along with directions how to make it :
https://www.earthclinic.com/supplements/melatonin-gel.html
Apply melatonin gel to the painful toe up to three times a day.
If the melatonin gel does not offer enough pain relief then you can consider Naproxen gel.
I make my naproxen gel by filling a shot glass a 1/4" to a 1/2" shy of full with aloe vera gel. Take two Naproxen soft gel capsules and poke the end of each soft gel with a pointed wooden toothpick or similar hard pointed pick and squeeze the contents of both soft gels into the shot glass with the aloe vera gel in it. Use a Q-tip to stir the naproxen gel very well into the aloe vera gel. Once fully and well stirred, the gel is ready for application. You can use the Q-tip to apply to the painful area. Cover the shot glass with something hard and flat such as a small saucer. Apply up to three times max per day unless your doctor approves of more applications per day.
My preference is for the melatonin gel because with longer term daily application it can have potential reparative effects to the toe joints along with its pain relieving effects, whereas naproxen only has pain relieving effects, but topical application avoids gastrointestinal issues that naproxen is noted for with extended use.
For the peripheral neuropathy (PN), I wrote the following which may interest you, but again, because of all that you have going on in terms of your current health issues, your doctor's approval and supervision are needed first :
https://www.earthclinic.com/cures/five-supplements-for-peripheral-neuropathy.html
You might start with the Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA) first as some people respond quickly to that one.
Regarding the Lyme disease (LD), that can be a lengthy discussion that we can have once you give feedback on the things I mentioned for your toe issues and your peripheral neuropathy.
Please keep us updated!
