Hey Angel,

I cannot advise about use of turpentine - read up on EC's pages for help with

that: https://www.earthclinic.com/remedies/turpentine-kerosene.html

If this were my dog and I could not go to the vet, I would:

1) muzzle the dog - a sock or nylones, over the nose, tied once underneath at the neck, and then wrapped around the head and tied behind the ears at the top of the skull works to do this; remember even the nicest dog may bite under the stress of pain.

2) clean the wound out. It may help to have additional humans present to restrain your dog while you work on the paw. You want to get the wound clean - this may involve flushing the wound with hydrogen peroxide repeatedly until any pus is gone and the only discharge you see is pure blood. You can then follow up by flushing with betadine solution.

3) protect the wound from getting dirty. You can put an old sock over it, and secure with duct tape - you want to just gently tape in place and not use force that would restrict blood flow.

4) give your dog a nice meaty bone to distract him from his foot and keep the bandage on.

Ideally, you would see the vet, but if you are unable to do so then I would do the above.

In addition, I would also give vitamin C- 1000 mg, maybe 2 pills am and pm. You would give the vitamin C for 10 days.

Please keep us posted!
