Ulcerative Colitis Flare-Up After 6 Years in Remission - Remedies Requested
Hi everyone, Charlotte from London here. I have ulcerative colitis and have been in remission for 6 years until about 2 months ago.
I've noticed I've started to feel odd. Bloated belly, constipation, mucus, and today a tiny bit of bleeding. I am freaking out as I do not know what has brought this on after so much time. I am not on any medication as I haven't needed to be and I am loathed to go back on western medication.
What are the best natural and herbal remedies for a flare-up? Thank you.

Check the bottom of your right foot to see if the spot for the ileo-cecal valve is tender. If yes, get online and learn to do massage in the right quadrant of your abdomen to restore the efficient and proper function of the ileo-cecal valve. It's very easy to do and doesn't require any special equipment. You can also work on the spot on your foot that corresponds to the ileo-cecal valve. I recently had very similar symptoms to yours after a car accident and learned the ileo-cecal valve is a "great pretender." A malfunctioning valve can cause all kinds of unexpected symptoms. It's an easy fix, but you'll have to do some research on the massage technique as it would be difficult to describe here. Lots of online videos on the subject.

I am hoping this will steer you in a good direction. Here in the USA, we have doctors that practice functional medicine. that is to treat the causes instead of the symptoms. See if those type of primary care people exist there. If so, see if you can have them prescribe a 'G.I.Map' test. It is very comprehensive showing 4 pages of your poop results. It has been very helpful for my doctor to treat with effective pharmaceutical grade supplements that help get things turned around.

Hello Charlotte,
I live in Wiltshire. I had UC many years ago and mine was only mild. When I was told that I had to be on these horrible tablets forever, I thought blow this and I will do my own research and settled on Aloe Vera juice. You can buy this at holland and barrett. This cools your bowls etc down as it is antiinflammatory. Mine flared up very slightly this year and I immediately had Aloe and it calmed down in a day or so. Try not to panic about it, if you can relax, meditate etc as well as having Aloe I am sure it will calm down.
Best of luck

Dear Charlotte:
I'm no doctor, but my first thought was "What happened about two months ago?" (Looking for the trigger.)
Please look up "Self heal by design" by Barbara O'Neill; and "Doctor Yourself: Natural Healing that Works" by Andrew W. Saul, Ph.D.
May I humbly suggest you find a Naturopathic/Holistic doctor, promptly.

I've had several friends cure it by going vegan and avoiding emulsifiers in their food.
I wish you the best…☀️

The Specific Carbohydrate Diet works well for UC, but it takes time to repair the gut. Many people find immediate relief doing the intro phase of the diet for a couple of days. See http://pecanbread.com/p/how/stages.html for the list of foods. Eat everything well cooked and only eat the allowable foods.
Lecithin can help to repair the mucous layer in the gut. Also, B vitamins plus extra B1 can help a lot of digestive issues.

Check out the book "Great Taste No Pain" by Sherry Brescia. It's all in the way the food we eat is combined. I have diverticulitis and it has made all the difference for me.
