Urgent Help Requested For Father Filling With 20 Pounds Lymph Fluid In 2 Days

Posted by J. (Virginia, Us) on 11/23/2014

Hi, I write to you concerning my father.

About 3 years ago my father, a 78 year old man with an impeccable history of health until recently, was diagnosed with CLL. At the time he was asymptomatic, the CLL was caught through a more or less regular health profile blood test. He has been working with an oncologist in Nashville, TN. His symptoms did not begin to show until about a year ago and he only this year began chemo. Prior to starting the chemo, his lymph glands had swollen in his neck and groin area to the size of overgrown zucchinis and I am still mystified as to why his oncologist waited so long to begin treatment.

The chemo has been effective in knocking back the swollenness of his glands and his oncologist believes that the CLL is moving towards remission--BUT--my father's lymphedema has become near unbearable for him and the standard medical profession is stumped as to why he is still retaining fluid.

It is important to note that his edema began before he began chemo but has since grown out of control. Initially he was hospitalized and mega dosed on Lasix which made him incontinent and was totally ineffective. Ostensibly his standard medicine doctors have no idea why he is retaining the fluids. He fills up in his abdominal cavity 6-8 liters at a time and 2-4 liters inside of his lungs. His extremities are filled inter-cellular to the point of bursting and literally 'leaking' fluid through his skin. He has had no less than 10-12 abdominal taps and 5-8 lung taps in less that 3 months. He now has a catheter in his abdomen and my 74 year old mom drains him a liter or so at a time a couple of times a week. He has 2 days of chemo a month but is constantly having to go to the hospital to be drained and then fills right back up with 20 lbs of lymph fluid in 2 days. He gets albumen replaced once or twice a month but it isn't helping much to keep his strength up. He can't hardly walk because the edema has made his genitals enormous, his body is enormous with fluid, his legs, his arms, he can't breath, it is hard to talk when he's filled with fluid--in short--he's in hell.

His regular doctors have not recommended anything, not compression, not massage, not herbs--only have said that 'maybe' the edema will get better when the lymphs go all the way back down. He's had several CAT scans and MRI's to look for other cancers in his body, or structural blocks or reasons for why his body is not sending the fluid to his urinary system. He has had his heart and lungs checked for every possible problem. The end result is that they find absolutely NO reason for his edema. No other cancer besides the CLL, no structural abnormalities, no other disease processes, no congestive heart issues, nothing!

Still, my father is filled with fluid to the point of breaking open constantly. In a matter of months his quality of life has gone from perfect to agonizing. He is open, very open to alternative medicine, willing to do anything now and needs help desperately but we can not find a truly knowledgeable, experienced naturopath or homeopath for him to go to. We need help--HE needs help. The CLL isn't killing my father, the lymphedema throughout his body is and so far no one has offered any hope or approach for dealing with this.

I beg you on behalf of my father, who is growing weaker by the day, for help. Please, please help my father and help us find the right person to treat him and hopefully save his life. I thank you for your time.

Hi

Sorry to hear of your Dad's illness, when you have swelling to this degree it is usually your lymphatic system over loaded with toxins. Vitamin C is incredibly helpful but it needs to be a high quality (not all are the same) I find the vitamin C from "Beyond Health" the best around but it's also quite expensive.

You might want to target your research towards doing a C flush BUT it is very important to "test" by going very slow at first and under no circumstances attempt a C flush if your Dad has any kind of kidney problem as it could result in Kidney failure, as with ANYTHING new start small and go slow is always the best way to go. Finally establish a time line from when he was healthy, any extensive dental work or recent vaccines? Both have the potential in certain people to over load the whole system.

Good luck Kindest Regards

Thank you James, I'll pass this info onto my father but I am hoping to find an individual who can 'guide' my dad through an entire detox, holistic, healing process; someone familiar with CLL and lymphedema and a multi-pronged approach to getting rid of the whole body edema. As of his last tests, he has no kidney problems (yet) and has been on a fairly high quality regimen of supplements, including 'C', for his entire adult life. We need a miracle and an integrated approach of traditional (which he's receiving to no positive end) and alternative therapies to get his system to release the fluid build-up. Do you perhaps know of a holistic practitioner who may be able to help him, or at least guide him to the right individual for an integrated approach of diet, supplements, alternative therapy such as acupuncture, message, exercise and so forth along side of his traditional CLL treatment?

Dear J,

I am so sorry about your father's edema.

Charcoal poultices may be of help. Here is a story about how this helped someone else.http://www.charcoalremedies.com/charcoal_stories/2011-1

Here is more information about charcoal poultices.

Dandelion is a good herb for edema. It can be taken as a tea.

Eating oatmeal has a diuretic effect.

My understanding is that it is important to keep up fluids (water, herbal tea) to help the body flush out extra fluids.

I hope you will find something that helps him very much soon. Let us know.

I had plenty of cases of edema or swelling or lymphedema and most of them are cured but for different ways but you can get killed this way too such as heart congestion. The cancer spreads along lymph glands and blocks the recirculation back to the heart. There is pulsing LED using RED or Green LED which reduce somewhat. Using some pulsing LED which helps stimulate lymphatic drainage. The common blockages is in area of abdomen lymphatic and the front of the leg. Rife frequencies using the Lymphedema in combination of lymphoma helps too but done like 3 hours per session and needs a lot of effort. The cancer may block the lymph or they may be inside the lymph blocking their drainage is a common ones. The other I found is kidneys issues that prevent their clearance. Constipation can cause lymphedema and the first signs of clearing is diarrhea to the point of the entire night of watery diarrhea. Pancreatic enzymes in large amount will digest them as does lipase too. The blockages appear to be fats blocking it. Doctor are usually stumped because there is no training of this sort in medical schools. The chance of success using these enzymes are low because the sellers do not provide the large amounts needed. Such as tablespoons of pancreatic enzymes and lipase. Therefore the practical means is Rife frequencies. You must encourage diarrhea using milk of magnesia and avoid starchy and oily foods. I am discouraged from doing this area of research by authorities and already stopped this area of research. Ted

Aloha

I would suggest he receive some energy healing - a person in this kind of condition needs to be filled with energy every day for some time. The body needs a certain amount of energy to heal. I can give you some Phone #s of people in his area. I can also do some long distance heal on him for free if he's interested.

Aloha Brad

Mama to Many, I thank you and am definitely making sure daddy sees these posts. He has been using dandelion tea for several weeks but has not tried charcoal treatment, to my knowledge. I thank you for the suggestion.

Ted, I have seen 'light' therapy references on other lymphedema sites, particularly pulsing red frequency light, but I know little about it and certainly do not know anyone here in the States who practices this type of therapy. I am very familiar with laser therapy from my work with animals and as a user of it myself. Is laser therapy the same as 'red light pulse' therapy? Do you know someone here in the States I can direct my father to who practices this type of therapy? I thank you for your help.

Brad, yes, yes, yes! I would love as would my father any type of healing energy you are able to direct to him and also any numbers you have of folks who may be able to do a hands-on healing. Both my father and I are very familiar with Reiki, but as of right now neither of us know a Master nearby. I do not know if I am allowed on this site to post my email directly here for you to contact me by but am quite willing to do so. Let me know? I thank you.

I know from personal experience that when we (or someone we love) is seriously ill we can often times panic into throwing everything and anything at the problem. While this is completely understandable we can also run the risk of throwing the whole body and recovery process out of balance.

It's true that our bodies are much smarter than we are, if you think back to every time you have been ill the first thing your body does is stop you from wanting food, in fact the thought of it often makes us feel repulsed. (your body is forcing you into fasting mode)

While I am not suggesting fasting is the best course of action for your Dad I am suggesting that sometimes doing a little is far better than doing a lot of everything.

The lymphatic system has no pump so when we sit it adds to the problem, I don't know if your Dad is capable of moving but he somehow needs to get the lymph system working again, even if he can only sits and start trying to raise his legs it is better than sitting still 24/7.

The high quality Vit C that I suggested is not like most vit C you buy in the store or on line, in fact most Vit C is an incomplete molecule and it can actually deplete the body of the very thing it is trying replace. Despite the cost I like the vit C offered from "Beyond health" again I would like to stress starting with a smaller dose and working up.

I am convinced that often times when doing less it will also mean you run the risk of getting less things wrong, throwing too many things at an ill body carry's the same risk as doing nothing.

My suggestion is to try movement and the Vit C I mentioned for one week. I would also not dismiss the power of prayer.

I hear very good things from Dr. David J. Clark, DC

Before jumping into anything with both feet I would urge you to watch his youtube channel and get a feel for his methods. He has a very well rounded knowledge of most things. I think he will have answers for you.

Ref Kidney tests.. testing has it's place in medicine but there are times when the tests are just not sensitive nor accurate enough to base everything on.

In 2011 I found myself sitting in a wheelchair listening to a Doctor tell me all of my tests were fine. Clearly something was very wrong with that picture. Today I am walking again but it wasn't anything any doctor was able to find or help me with.

During that time I learned to fight my own corner and that battle started with questioning everything and anything. All too often we base everything on a number that may or may not be correct for every individual.

Good Luck

Thank you James for the sound advice and the reference. Dad's had 8 hours of chemo today, an hour of albumen and sleeps now. Tomorrow a shorter dose of the other drug and then back home. I will share all with him when he gets home and hopefully after T-day holidays, we'll be able to move forward in developing a plan. I thank you.

J., seeing as your father is on concentrated medical help, I don't know if a plain ol' household solution can help, but here goes anyhow: when anyone around here gets swollen we take a glass of water and a lick of grey sea salt (we have celtic but himalayan or any such sort is good) and get into bed for a bit. After less than 1/2 hour the urge to urinate is strong and that pulls out with it some of the extra water hanging around in the body.

We only do it twice a day for mild swelling, so, if you want, take this info and do as you understand.

Red or yellow LED preferably the more powerful one such as 100 watt kind but laser if you can find one. They are sold in stores that sells LED. Haven't visited US since 1981 so have no idea about US alternative healthcare there to recommend.
