Need Help for Vaginal Atrophy With Chronic UTIs

Posted by Bluebaker (Nyc) on 06/15/2026

Been given topical estrogen with pessaries, did that and it worked for a few months, now the same infection is back. I can't take abx any longer, tried fosfomycin, bactrim, Zinnat, the entire lot. I've been staving everything off with herbal teas, oregano oils, NAC and probiotics. My gut also has been compromised which makes me think this entire thing is linked - gut and UTI. Same pathogen - e.coli throughout. Been addressing everything as best as I can, but seriously could use some help with this. I bought DHEA from reading it here but still haven't taken it due to not knowing how it would interact with the estrogen and if it's safe. I basically have every supplement known to mankind here in trying to stave off infections of every type. For that taking vitamins and minerals to keep up my immune system. Any thoughts appreciated.

Hi Bluebaker,

I have had very good results with D-Mannose for UTI's.

It works by binding to the E coli. bacteria allowing the E coli. to be flushed out with the urine. Unlike antibiotics, the bacteria can't adapt and become resistant to the D-Mannose because it doesn't try and kill the bacteria, it only binds to it allowing it to be flushed away with the urine. The binding action also prevents the E coli. from attaching to the interior of the urinary tract.

My friends have used this product to good effect :

Two to three of the supplied scoops mixed in a 500 ml bottle of water 3 times per day for an active UTI has worked well.

Once the existing infection has been gotten rid of, you can use one bottle 2 times per week evenly spaced apart during the week or about every fourth day as a preventative.

Hi, thanks for replying. Yes, I've been also taking D-Mannose in all its forms - powders, combinations and capsules. At first and this is years ago it worked, cleared UTI's and then gradually it stopped. It could be due to the infection being embedded.

Hi Bluebaker,

Do take the D-Mannose that Art has suggested, but you may want to take colloidal silver, 4 tablespoons a day, at least 10 days, especially if you have not taken it before. I used to have chronic UTIs and it helped me tremendously. I took mine with an antibiotic that no longer worked and it boosted it, but it did work, along with cranberry, probiotics, fresh lemon, thought my stomach and gut suffered. Now I take MMS, ie chlorine dioxide, for all infections as I have less gut issues, especially when nothing else works. I also had a rife machine at the time. I had UTIs for years and I was determined to get rid of it. Someone on this site mentioned UT Vibrance on Amazon as working for her.

Hi Bluebaker,

You didn't mention you were taking D-mannose in your original post, so I thought it was worth adding. A friend has been using the product I linked to twice weekly for at least 3 years now and still not one UTI.

I had considered mentioning the following in my original reply to you, but decided not to because I didn't know how to say it in a gentle way, but I will mention it now. E coli. is naturally occurring in the lower intestines in people and some people have found relief from switching to wiping themselves from back to front to front to back. Although E coli. is beneficial in the lower intestine, not so much in other areas.

Yes, I have worked with so many things so far, way too many to list here, now branching out to the unknown because of the variables involved here which are the uro/gyn, fibroids, toxins and the chronic UTIs, so the approach is now multi-tiered, from antimicrobial, supportive, restorative and regenerative as well. There seems to be a connection to my gut and hormonal/bladder issues.
