Vet Gave Antibiotics But Is Yeast Infection Help

Posted by Poco (Sammamish, Wa) on 03/22/2015

My dog had an ear infection so I took him to a Vet on Friday. I asked him to do a test to see what is the cause. He said he can tell by looking at it, it is bacteria infection. He didn't do much other checking of my dog like listening to his heart etc. They did check that my dog has a fever. Now is Sat. night, I just found out my dog's paws was red and swollen too. I looked up on the internet and found out, my dog's infection is caused by yeast not bacteria. so What do I do?? He had taken 4 dose of antibiotic, should I stop it now?? It kills the good bacteria which my dogs needs to fight the yeast infection. What should I do? tomorrow is Sunday and the Vet is not open. Please help!

Hey Poco!

You might try Ted's borax protocol for dogs - this will help with the internal yeast which will also affect the external yeast. You could also try Ted's mange remedy for soaking the paws.

The fever would have me most concerned - I would keep an eye on it if this were my dog and would dose activated charcoal just as a prophylactic.
