What Can Help Lichen Planus In Skin Mouth And Throat Of Daughter

Posted by Jane M. (Calgary, Alberta) on 04/18/2015

I am looking for help for my daughter who has had Lichen Planus for over 2 years, started on skin with the standard skin sores, in about a year to her mouth which just continues to get worse, she had a scope of her throat and it is there also. She has been told if any further sign of being able to swallow she will need to go in at once for throat surgery. It has affected her eyes, ears, sinusus as well, very dry. If there is anyone that has had this condition and found help please post, also if Ted would have help, I would be so grateful to all.

I wonder if Charcoal would be of any help. Thank You, Jane

Dear Jane,

How old is your daughter?

Charcoal may be helpful but difficult to apply to the areas affected. I would be more likely to try Extra Virgin Coconut Oil topically, and also internally. (The amount depending on the age of your daughter.)

If there is any way you could get milk kefir (bought or made yourself) that would be another good thing to try.

We have found turmeric and Borage oil to work well for inflammatory conditions of many kinds.

How is her diet? Does she take any supplements?

I had oral lichen planus for 5 years. I found that when I treated my Leaky Gut then the lichen planus cleared up. I followed Ted's remedies for leaky gut and within days everything cleared up.

Thank you for your reply, she is forty, has tried coconut oil, silver, no sugar, gluten, different supplements. Had silver fillings taken out years ago. It just seems to be getting worse, so am grateful for all help. Thanks, Jane

Dear Jane,

It sounds like your daughter has been making positive steps for her health; I am guessing she had her mercury fillings out because of health concerns? Does she have health concerns other than the Lichen Planus? How is her digestion? I am sorry I keep thinking of more questions.

Since gut issues seem to be related for some, I would look in to that. If she has Candida symptoms or low thyroid symptoms, either of those could cause the body to have trouble healing from diseases.

Some immediate things I would try, while continuing to figure out if there is an underlying cause, would be, Turmeric 1 teaspoon twice a day. It can be added to milk, kefir, carrot juice, or just 4 capsules 4x a day. Borage Oil, at least 1000mg twice a day. And milk kefir, 1-2 cups a day. I would watch digestion. If constipation or diarrhea are an issue they need to be worked on. (Turmeric, without adequate fluid, can be constipating.)

Juicing helps a lot of people with a lot of different problems. A cup or two of carrot juice each day would be great. (You might start with 1/2 cup and work up to 2 cups per day.)

I would also consider Essiac Tea. It is a tea that some use for cancer, but some use for good health. The Burdock Root in it is a blood purifier. The Turkey Rhubarb and the Slippery Elm are good for the gut.

These are just a few ideas. There are a lot of things that could be tried. But these are things I would start with.

Oh, and you had mentioned charcoal. Taken internally, it might be helpful. I just wouldn't take with within 2 hours of supplements or medications. But a teaspoon in a glass of water at bedtime might be a good thing to try, to help clean out the insides.

Please keep in touch and let us know how it goes. I am sure it is discouraging to keep trying things and not have them work. I guess the good thing is that there are still many things that could be tried.

I hope the solution will be evident soon!

Thank you Mama, I will pass on your info. She is going to try Vit. C by IV so we are praying this may help, at least the natural things are good to try. I will be in touch when there is news. Thank you again, Jane

Hi Jan,

Your post is the first one I have seen on any site where systemic Lichen Planus was able to be eradicated, so it was of much importance to me and probably many others. I am unable to locate Ted's recommendations for leaky gut on this site, and wondered if you could let us know what you did to follow his advice? I have tried many things for a long time without success and would so appreciate anything you can remember that you did. Thank you so much!

I couldn't find the post either, however here are some of the things I did.

  • One vitamin b complex daily
  • Bone broth throughout the day
  • L Glutamine daily
  • Lugols Iodine
  • Low carb, alkaline diet
  • Plenty of water
  • No sugar at all (even watch the toothpaste)

I followed the anti candida diet for two years but still had the mouth ulcers and difficulty swallowing. My mouth healed when I focused on the Leaky Gut. For quantities, please see your Naturopath or Health Food Store. I know the post had more solutions but I didn't use them all. I will re-post if I can find it.

Hi Jan,

Thank you for the prompt reply. I appreciate any advice to be able to clear this LP from my system once and for all. Do you happen to remember if you omitted gluten products, too, or was it mostly no sugar for dietary changes? You have given me hope for recovery and I know there are many others who will be able to benefit as well. Thank you so much!

I am Celiac, so I haven't had gluten for a number of years. I believe gluten is acidic, not alkaline. You might want to avoid that.

Thanks, Jan. I am going to study this and see if I can stop eating gluten. I understand it is in a lot more food than just bread and is hidden in some ingredients you would not suspect, but maybe this is key, along with sugar, to the cure. It can only help, certainly can't hurt! Thanks.

Which leaky gut protocol did you follow? Have you had a recurrence? Thanks.
