What Remedies Can Help 67 Year Old Man With Mono

Posted by Lynda (Ohio, US) on 12/23/2014

My husband is 67 and has had a very bad case of mono For 2 months now. He is very weak, tired, hot and cold at times. Sleeps a lot, does absolutely nothing because he has no energy. Losing his appetite and has lost 20 lbs. Doctors keep saying it just has to run its course, this was an active man who lifted weights and now he is on the couch most of the time. I started him on the coconut oil on Saturday and haven't seen any difference yet. Also bought vitamin c and some good multiple vitamins wonder how long before he starts to see some progress. He just plain doesn't feel good most of the time.

Dear Lynda,

So sorry about your husband's mono. Were you able to find the extra virgin cold pressed coconut oil? We used 3 Tablespoons of that a day for my son's mono and we saw results in 36 hours. But everyone is different. The vitamin c is a good idea. We have found baking soda baths to be very helpful when dealing with sickness. 1 cup baking soda in a hot bath for 20 minutes once or twice a day.

I also find it helpful internally. 1/4 tsp. in a glass of water a couple of times a day.

I hope he feels better soon. Mono is so miserable!
