When To Add Electrolytes to Colloidal Silver?

Posted by Michael (Del Mar, Ca) on 12/15/2018

I watched the video about making colloidal silver and wasn't clear about the inclusion of the electrolyte solution I added it after the silver generator made the silver solution. Is it supposed to go in before you start the process of after?

Thank you so much.

Electrolyte solution is supposed to be added to your distilled water in the mason jar before you start the process. Add drops and stir with a wooden spoon that has been rinsed in distilled water.

If you want to turn the batch into colloidal silver after it's finished, you add a few drops of the sugar solution (reducing agent).

Tip: Make sure MA setting reads around 12 for perfect batches of 20 ppm CS. Either adjust the cathode or add more electrolyte solution. I wasn't adding enough electrolyte solution to my first few batches and the MA reading was always way too high.

Many thanks to Art for patiently training me on how to make Colloidal Silver. Couldn't have done it without him! I have now made at least 100 quarts of CS for friends, family, pets and self in the past year and a half. Some I kept as ionic silver to use topically, but most batches I turned into Colloidal Silver. Directions say to add 5 drops of the reducing agent (50/50 karo syrup and distilled water), but 1 drop is all it takes for my batches to turn pale yellow.

Hi Deirdre,

Sounds like you've been very busy making quite a few quarts of colloidal silver!

The 5 drops of electrolyte at the beginning of the production process insures a greater than 90% reduction of the ionic silver to silver nanoparticles and also helps to insure minimum plateout on the cathode and virtually no sediment in the finished product. Actually I use 6 drops to optimize the reduction process and is a critical step if you are making the 320 ppm CS, but much more forgiving for under 40 ppm. Too little electrolyte on the high ppm and you are not likely to reach the actual ppm that you have set your silver generator to make.

What electrolyte solution do you use?
