Are There Side Effects From Long Term Use of Borax?

Posted by Sean (Evansville, Indiana) on 06/26/2012

Has anyone experienced symptoms of boron toxicity after long supplementation of borax at around 1/4 tsp of borax per liter of water with 2 liters consumed daily? I have been using this for about 8 months straight now without side effects, but as borax contains boron, which is a precursor to boric acid, was just curious of anyone else's account of any side effects of chronic ingestion of this amount of borax daily over at least this time period? Any response to this will be greatly appreciated, thank you.

I am getting ready to begin this and I am wondering the same thing. Everything you read says you can use it as a vaginal insert but not internally. I am kind of scared to begin using it, but I want this Candida gone!

Ok, so I started drinking the borax today and it gave me horrible, horrible gas. Like it smells like a sewer and it lingers. I am embarrassed to say it, but I just want to know if this means anything? Like could it be the Candida dying? I mean, this is like something I have never experienced or smelled before. I cannot do this and go to work. But if it is killing the Candida, I need to keep trying it. Any thoughts on this crazy situation? Has anyone else experienced this as a side effect? I was able to tolerate it. I was going to mix Crystal Light in tomorrow as the lemon and lime juice was not really enough to mask the soapy flavor of th Borax.

Erin, if you must restrict your dosing time for convenience do so, but do continue the borax as it is detoxing the fungus out of your body. If you have an electric house-fan get that going. This first phase shouldn't last for more than a few days. Also, if you've never done any kind of colon cleanse, then you need to do one now, as a contaminated colon will harbor the fungus indefinitely.

When I was at my doctor office he is heavy metal expert. Anyhow they had a bottle of boron at the doctor office and I bought it I know Boron is helpful to take for detox of heavy metal, fungus overgrowth etc.... I think it is better to buy in this form completely safe and meant for ingestion.

Erin I just realized you wrote that the instruction are for vaginal insertion you CANNOT take that it is most likely boric acid. My ND prescribes boric acid pill for me a yeast infections. Dummy me I accidentally took one capsule of boric acid I thought it was meant to be taken by mouth but it was meant for vaginal insertion I started to get sick and then I looked at the label I read on the label DO NOT take by mouth I was soooo sick my stomach hurt so bad I seriously thought I would have to the ER I was up all night So please be sure the best thing is to just buy boron at the health store.

You can make a boric acid solution (only pharmacy grade boric acid, available from the pharmacy only no prescription needed, for about $3 where I live). I suggest only the potency of the eye wash solution which is 1/8 teaspoon to one cup of clean water. You must boil the powder inside the water for at least 10 minutes to fully dissolve the powder. You can store this solution in a clean container and use it as needed. I have read you can use it as a douche, but I think simply squeezing a few saturated cotton balls into the vagina while laying down would be sufficient. You should feel immediate relief, and only need to do it a couple times a day for a few days. I used it myself like this once recently, with good results.

Side effects while using Borax (during 3 days only): Kidney pains

My correction is to reduce the intake of Borax, as I guess the calcium and or fluoride exit is going faster then my kidneys can expel in time. Next to that I probably did not drink enough plain water. I have been drinking distilled water for 3 years now, and I have used herbals to clean all organs during this period. Borax definitely works ...

I have been using the dilute borax solution for 3 yrs. I have multiple chemcial sensitivites and needed to help my detoxing. If you have never done anything to rid yourself of candida before start with tiny doses and build your tolerance up: this solution is powerful even in small amounts. 2 months prior to first using this solution I had already used the strongest probiotic on the market for over a month to rid my candida. My candida die off was extreme, the pain in every joint of my body was intense. That lasted a week. And that was with just strong probiotics. Then I started using the dilute borax solution, thinking I had the candida dealt with I started with 1 tsp/day. I went through another candida die off just as bad as the first. If I hadnt already experienced the first one, I might have misread my symptoms. The borax solution got what the probiotics missed. I stayed at 1 tsp/day for a few months then reduced it to every few days, then to a couple times per week for maintenance. There are no negative effects except the detoxing and that will be different for each individual. start with small doses as I was in good health starting this, if you are not in good health I could see it aggravating already existing conditions. watch your symptoms as they will tell you where your trouble areas are, and where you need to focus your efforts to heal yourself. I use borax in all kinds of things for alternate treatments: I could write a book. I have never had a bad reaction, but if I take any over the counter pain killer too often (if I hurt myself and need to manage pain) I react terribly. thats how sensitive I am.
