Bitter Taste In Mouth Due To Acid Reflux

Posted by Gareth (London, Uk) on 06/07/2011

Hi,

I'm a 28 year old male, having acid reflux for about 7 years or so. Tried all the usual medications (ppi).

I'm in the process of trying to understand this more. I think the best way to fix this is to educate myself and learn from my mistakes.

I have recently bought some ph strips to test my saliva. Annoyingly my ph is always greenish and representing a ph7 to 7.5, I almost don't believe it. Even as I test my mouth is so bitter and horrible. Even when I drink some water it doesn't clear the horrible taste, (exception unless I drink lots and lots of water)

The only things that clear the taste is a soft drink, I guess the sugar hides the taste?

Tea, I drink plenty of this, usually half a teaspoon of brown sugar or ocassionally a sweetner if I'm in the office.

My acid reflux is usually worse at night and the taste is so bad I have to sip a soft drink (blackcurrant usually) to get rid of the taste every 2 or 3 hours of sleeping. When I sip the drink, I get this strange fizzing sensation in my mouth and on the second sip, there is no more fizzing and I feel better again for a few more hours.

What is this and how do I stop it?

I bought HCL tablets a while back and initially thought they might be working, but one night I got extremely bad and decided to stop taking them.

I also occasionally try the half a teaspoon of baking soda with water, that seems to help me also with the actually burning up my throat.

I also get mouth ulcers all the time, what really helps my mouth ulcers is corsodyl mouthwash, it has chlorexidine inside it.

Do anyone know what I should do?

Is it worth testing the ph of my urine also?

Thanks for reading.

Hi

The burning of the throat when Baking Soda is taken is a sure sign of an acidic mouth. Search the web for baking soda with peroxide mouthwash. There is plenty of recipes. Some has H2O2, BS and some drops of peppermint. Make H2O2 solution of 1% or less at first because I believe the solution will create a lot of foam in your mouth, which is an indication of effectiveness.

Why don't you look at that page https://www.earthclinic.com/cures/acid_reflux.html and look at what is the most popular:ACV so stop taking HCL.

Stop taking soft drink, sweetener, sugar. For your tea put unsulfured blackstrap molasses if you have to have a sweet taste. BSM is full of minerals. I drink my tea with the following spices:ginger, turmeric and cayenne pepper. I tried to take the best spices I can find.

For pH testing go there http://curezone.com/forums/fm.asp?i=1413918#i and it will refer to other sites.

Good Luck, ALAIN

Hi, thanks for the info. I think you might have misunderstood me though, when I say my mouth fizzes, I mean it fizzes when I drink an acidic soft drink, such as blackcurrant, not when I drink baking soda. When I drink the baking soda there is little effect in my mouth to be honest, but it seems to help later on with the acid burning my throat.

If the ulcers in your mouth are located deep within the crevices between your cheek and gums, go away then come back progressively getting worse, you may have Apthos ( spelling?) Uclers, and may be a sign that you are a celiac, glutimine (wheat) sensitive and need to go on a wheat free diet and start rotating your foods.

As the lining in your stomach begins to get holes in it, from the glutine sensitivity, food starts to enter your blood system through those microschopic holes, histimines start reacting to those foods and other symptons develope, like loose stools, or stools that are googy and eleminating the stool entirely is difficult. (A friend said "eating gluten is like eating glue for your intestinal track")

Also, add a viarity of probiotics, a fraction at a time, because the different colonies will have little wars with each other as the claim territories in your intestimal track. This wars may feel like nausea so cut back until it stop, ( about a week or so) then add a little more.

If you get the right ones in they (hopefully) help to predigest any glutine that accidently gets into your system.

We are all different! This is what worked for me and my son, ana about 50% of others that I know that have reported back to me that have tried it.

Another cause for ulcers in the mouth is herpes. Those show up right around the mouth either inside or just outside the lip area. I've tried servaral remedies the only thing that works for me and so well that it disappears almost by the next day is a product called "Be Gone". See if you can find out whats in it.

I find it hard to get so when I do see it I get a couple bottles, and make sure its part of my travel kit along with a couple of capsules of L-Lysine.

Good luck on your search for the remedy that works for you.
