Chronic PVCs: Possible Causes and Treatments?

on 06/08/2025

I'm no stranger to palpitations, I've experienced both rapid heartbeats and skipped heartbeats for most of my adult life I'm Male 60. I suffer from a lot of stress and anxiety so they go with the territory. My last full cardiac workup was 13 years ago with no significant findings. I'm not sure it's relevant or not but a few weeks ago I started taking creatine monohydrate, and I started experiencing more frequent PVC like palpitations skipping heartbeat, sometimes 3 in less than a min.

I'm not sure if it was the creatine because to add to my problems I suffer from untreated moderate sleep apnea so I haven't been very rested lately. I recognize that this could also be a Vegus nerve inflammation sometimes the Vegus nerve reset exercises work sometimes they don't. Trapped gas, hat tip to Dr Doolittle scene with Eddy Murphy. I'm also something of a hypochondriac and I was worried that that it could be an arterial issue primarily Aorta in aneurysm in the stomach, which can be fatal. Causes could be physical over exertion, which I do the Tibetan Rites which are very demanding especially on the abdominals, I read one of the symptoms is a pulse in the naval area, which I have but than others say it's normal to have a pulse in that area. Is there one There aren't too many other telltale symptoms except sudden drop in B.P. Today I had a drop from 117 to 115 but it could be due to lack of rest and I was lying down at the time)

That was at least 4 days ago and I'm still standing.(Today they are very chronic and I've maybe an hour My old hypochondriac self would have already run to the ER to get checked, but today I'm more self sufficient and don't panic everytime I would think if it was serious something would have happened already. I've doing what I can to manage the palpitations including the V nerve resets and belly breathing, taking cayenne, kyolic, but the PVCs keep persisting and they are taking their till, I hope there is someone who can share a similar experience or helpful advice. As I've write this I've had like at least 6 PVCs in the space if 5-10 mins is that normal, Thanks

Hi Sim 83,

Creatine is associated with arrythmias. So you may want to avoid it.

Low Magnesium and Potassium levels can be contributing factors to premature ventricular contractions (PVCs).

Anxiety and stress from increased adrenaline can also be contributing factors.

Sleep Apnea can be a contributing factor for PVCs.

Gas and bloating can also be a contributor to PVCs.

Coronary arterial disease is another common cause.

There are many potential causes for PVCs, but you need to discuss getting a C-Pap machine with your doctor or cardiologist because sleep apnea has multiple unhealthful consequences and because it can be one cause of PVCs, it needs to be dealt with and eliminated as a cause for your PVCs.

While you're seeing the doctor they can also check your potassium and magnesium levels to try and eliminate them as potential causes. You are way past due for some proper testing and diagnosing by your doctor/cardiologist or both.

Come back once you have those results and you should be able to get more information on the best remedies.
