Female Dog With Open Wound That Won’t Heal - Need Help

Posted by Skip (Steubenville, USA) on 04/25/2023

my dog has an open wound around her urinary opening. I have been giving black walnut tincture and a thyme tincture which seems to get it to shrink in size and soreness but will not heal all the way. looking for some input as to what this could be and how else to treat her. It is now on both sides of her bottom.

Hi Skip,

I am so sorry about your pup!

Honey is great for healing open wounds. I am not sure how to use it in this situation, but if she licked it, it would be okay.

Hi Skip,

Getting the correct diagnosis from a vet would be helpful. If it's spreading, antibiotics might be necessary. I would look at all the remedies on Earth Clinic's pyometra page. Internally, manuka honey, turmeric and vitamin C are the top remedies for pyometra and would help wounds. Colloidal Silver is another fantastic remedy, given internally. Here's the page: I hope your dog heals soon. Her condition sounds painful.

Hello, Skip. So sorry to read about the discomfort your dog is having. Just a suggestion to visit the below website. I noted that it had helpful information about healing pet wounds in a "natural" way. Maybe you'll see a remedy that may be safe for your dog. I pray she will be fully healed.

Slippery elm tree powder by itself if the wound is moist as it will stick to it quite quickly and follow up by mixing Slippery elm powder mixed with organic coconut. Mix 1 tbsp of slippery elm powder with pure organic cold expressed coconut oil until it creates a smooth easily malleable cream/paste. Will not harm if ingested. Is a heal all combination.
