Trouble Swallowing Remedies Desparately Needed

Posted by Tami (Omak, Wa) on 05/27/2009

Since my surgery in Nov 2008,(hysterectomy) I have had difficulty swallowing even my saliva. Sometimes I will get an overabundance of it and it becomes white and foamy. It comes and goes, I will be totally fine one minute then then next I can't swallow anything. It is very frustrating and exhausting. I have to sleep propped up at night and when I am really having trouble when I go to sleep I wake up constantly gasping for air.

My throat does not hurt. Every now and then I will burp but not often. I have had chest pains, waves of heat, and moments where my tongue feels thick. My blood pressure has been running low 96/65. I feel as if I am having a heart attack or stroke. My heart has been checked out with EKG and all that and is fine. About 1 month after surgery my tongue and inside my lips got extremely red underneath and was very painful, that hasn't happened since. Any ideas of what would help as I am not getting much help at all from the docs just lots of bills.

I would suggest having your thyroid checked very thoughly. Had my tubes tied in 2004 and 2 years later was diagnosed with graves disease. I had also gotten no help from docs after repeated visits for hot flashes, trouble swallowing, severe mood swings, shortness of breath, heart palpatations, bright red on palms of my hands, and lots of other symptoms. I think that having my tubes tied resulted in loss of vital hormones and hormone shock and thus the downward slide. Worth checking out and if traditional doc wont help try a chinese medical doc or naturopath.

Please keep us posted, hope all goes well. Pam

It is no surprise that there have been severe after effects after surgery involving anaesthetic - particularly with the thyroid. Anaesthetics contain fluoride - a well known enemy of the thyroid gland. I would recommend getting the advice of a naturopath for the best way to detox your body. In the meantime, try taking charcoal tablets to adsorb the toxins. Check that these won't interfere with any medication you are taking.

Hello Pam i hope you get to read this, a few months ago i had the exact symptoms as you and was required to do a test for thyroid. Thankfully i dont, but do you know that GERDS or acid reflux as it is commonly called mimics those exact symptoms? Have your doctor check you out for that,as there are a lots of home remedies that can help in this along with a lot of healthy life style changes. For the throat issues you can gargle warm salt water whenever it hurts and then drink some aloe juice at least every morning, this helps to heal whatever irritation there. I hope for the best.
